Discord Wars 8 - Rules and Game Info

Important Rules:
If something says it must be streamed or local recorded, it must be stored as a vod on Twitch or uploaded as a video on YouTube
If you fail to follow this and/or use link shorteners or other things that we don't want to open, your submission will be rejected.

Co-Op Games:

Each of these games must be completed with players from your team.

Trine Enchanted Edition (20 Points)

  • Beat the game with 2-3 Total Gamers.
  • Must be Streamed/Local Recorded.
  • Include Credits in Stream/Local Recording

R.E.P.O (20 Points)

  • Teams of 4-6, can replay to get others points but only submit once per milestone
  • Points: 5pts each milestone - Reach Lv 4 (easy), 8 (medium), 10 (hard), 12 (very hard)
    • As long as you reach the base level for each threshold, you still get the points even if you fail to complete it.
  • You CANNOT save on a level, exit, and host new party on saved level for points
  • Must be streamed and submit a vod link (Twitch or YouTube only)
  • Vanilla Game, No Mods (add ons or cosmetics), no health glitch

Payday 2 (20 Points)

  • Games must be completed with Four players.
  • Difficulty AT MINIMUM must be set to HARD.
  • NO DLC REQUIRED (But is allowed)
  • Vanilla Game, No Mods
  • Submit a post-heist screenshot like the one below. For multi-day heists, you only need to submit the final day.

Halo 3 (20 Points)

  • Game can be completed with 2-4 players.
  • MUST play either the HEROIC campaign or LEGENDARY campaign playlist
  • Scoring and Time Hud set to SCORE
  • The setting “Enable Campaign Customization” can be enabled.
  • Points:
    • All missions except “Arrival” award 2 points.
    • Points are progressive: you only need to submit once, and you'll get points for all missions up to that point.
    • You should submit a screenshot taken after the last level you finished (see below), or submit a VoD link.
  • Microsoft account required regardless of version

Crab Champions (20 Points)

  • Maximum 4 players, Minimum 2 players (no solo)
  • Complete 2 loops (56 islands) in order to get points
  • Points Breakdown
    • Normal: 5 Points
    • Nightmare: 5 Points
    • Nightmare + 2 Difficulty Modifiers: 5 points
    • Nightmare + 5 Difficulty Modifiers: 5 points
  • Completing a higher difficulty will earn you all the points below as well
  • Starting item is allowed (1 per player)
  • Must be streamed or local recorded
  • If playing with Difficulty Modifiers the screen below must be shown on stream
  • You may choose whatever modifiers you want

PEAK (20 Points)

  • 2-4 Players
  • Difficulty: Peak
  • No outside help from non-DW participants
  • Once you complete Kiln YOU CANNOT join another run and carry others. No little buddy mode.
  • Points:
    • Shore (2 points)
    • Tropics (3 points)
    • Alpine (4 points)
    • Caldera (5 points)
    • Kiln (6 points)
  • Must be streamed or local recorded

Challenge Runs:

Each game in this section is to be done solo. You can help your teammates with guides, sharing strats, etc.
Points are awarded progressively based on how far you get in the challenge. In order to get full marks, you must beat the challenge.
Everything here also must be streamed or local recorded unless otherwise noted.

Ocarina of Time SoH No Hit (50 Points)

  • Setup Guide: Doc Here
  • Settings file is provided in the setup guide. It's been updated a few times, so make sure you check the document for the latest version.
  • Blocking w/ a Shield is considered a HIT
  • Hit = Taking damage of any kind
  • Save and Quit is allowed as long as you are not in immediate danger (I.E about to get hit by something and the only way to avoid is to Save and Quit)

Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising (30 Points)

  • Survival Mode - 100 Floor gauntlet with rogue-like mechanics and special bosses every 5 floors
  • Free to play characters only (rotation changes every Thursday)
  • F2P edition can be downloaded on the Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising store page and choosing the Free Edition
  • Point breakdown is shown below. You only need to submit the highest floor you reach.
  • Streaming is NOT required. Get a screenshot of this screen when you finish or when your run dies and link that as proof

Minecraft Hardcore (30 Points)

  • Defeat the Ender Dragon with a team between 2-4 Players.
    • Both Java and Bedrock are allowed
  • Rules
    • If one player on your team dies, the entire run must start over
    • There must be atleast 2 players online when playing through a seed
    • The entire group must be present when entering The End and fighting the Ender Dragon
    • You may NOT use mods of any kind for this challenge.
    • You may NOT use weird glitches to kill the Ender Dragon like the Bed Glitch. Do it the real way. No weird cheaty tech for getting there either. Do it as intended.
    • You may NOT run the same seed twice
    • Once you clear you CANNOT go again to carry other gamers. No Little Buddy mode.
  • Streaming/recording is required ONLY when entering The End and fighting the Ender Dragon
  • We have a server posted in the Minecraft channel for players to use

Balatro (20 Points)

  • Points are earned by clearing stakes
  • You may choose any two decks to use to complete stakes with a total of 10 points per deck
    • Swapping decks between stakes is okay, as long as stake clears are on unique decks
  • Using a fresh file with everything unlocked is okay
  • Must be unseeded
  • Does NOT need to be streamed/recorded, screenshots are fine
  • Points (10 per deck, 20 total)
    • White Stake - 1 point
    • Red Stake - 1 point (2)
    • Green Stake - 1 point (3)

  • Clearing a stake also counts as clearing all lower stakes

Archipelago: (40 Points)

Archie Pellago is a multi-world, multi-game randomizer experience. More details can be found at the Archipelago website.

  • Please choose a game from this list.
  • Signups will take place in each team's Discord Wars Archipelago discord in the format of Player Name - Link to your .yaml file
  • forsty and other mod volunteers will create rooms for groups of 5 players and create a thread for you all to coordinate.
  • If for some reason we need additional folks to fill a seed, we may either launch with less than 5 people or allow people to go twice just to help fill a room, but this will be at the mod’s discretion
  • In the event that someone bails, or becomes completely unresponsive and your seed is hard stuck, the seed creator will be able to help release those items and get the gamers moving again.
  • Your goal is to complete the goal for your game and then submit the tracker URL for verification. You can submit once your goal is complete. You do not have to wait for the entire group to finish.

RetroAchievements: (145 Points)

Four games will be available to earn points through RetroAchievements.
We have picked out certain achievements for these games, so not all achievements in each game will give points.
Achievements will be tracked via RetroAchievements API, so you will need to submit your RA username on the DW8 website.
The below games are in Discord Wars 8:

  • Super Mario RPG Low Level - 50 Points Total
  • Pokemon Snap - 25 Points Total
  • Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - 30 Points Total
  • F-Zero GX - 40 Points Total

Basic Rules: “Hardcore” mode must be enabled to earn points in Discord Wars. If you have previously earned achievements in a game, you will need to reset your progress on the specific achievements needed. You will not get points unless the RetroAchievements website shows you earned the achievement after the start date of the event.

Update: Softcore mode is now ok since Bizhawk 2.9 has owned several people. You still should not be using savestates or frame advance.

Races: (25 Participation Points)

Races are run through racetime.gg and will require an account for your score and participation to be counted.
YOU MUST LINK YOUR RACETIME ACCOUNT TO YOUR USER PROFILE ON THE WEBSITE
All rules have been taken from their respective speedrun.com pages. Any questions about rules should first review those resources for answers. Further questions can be directed to JTB on Discord.
You must be live streaming with a connected Twitch channel for your racetime account to participate in the races.

Points:
You can earn 5 participation points for up to 5 races. You can top 15 in any race for points.
Top 15 Finishers will get points based on their finish (60, 48, 40, 36, 32, 28, 24, 20, 16, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2)
The team with the MOST gamers in the top 15 will recieve a bonus 200 points

For most games, we have two races. You can only join one of the races. All the results will be combined to find the top 15.

Race Procedure:

  • At least 20 minutes before the race start time: A mod will post a racetime.gg lobby in Discord. If you want to race, you should join the lobby as soon as you can.
  • At the race start time: The race will start as soon as everybody who has joined the lobby has readied up.
  • 10 minutes after the start time: If necessary, the race will be force-started. Anybody who has not readied up will be dropped from the race.

In order to ready up, your stream must be live and linked to your racetime.gg account. Don't wait until the last minute to get everything ready.

Mario Party 2 (N64)

  • Category: Space Land + Horror Land (Must also be done in this order)
  • 20 Turns per board.
  • CPU Difficulty set to normal. Bonus ON.
  • No Turn Resets.
  • Must Take first Place on both boards.

Pokemon FireRed Randomizer (GBA)

  • Category: Randomizer race (no glitches)
  • The Ironmon tracker is allowed but the Time Machine function is banned and all tracker extensions are banned.

Paper Mario - 5 Golden Pigs (N64)

  • Category: 5 Golden Pigs :)
  • Options for setting up 999 coins and Speedy Spin:
  • You must hard reset when you run out of coins, no save state reloading.
  • Time starts on hitting the dispenser (with clean pedestal)

We Love Katamari (PS2)

  • Category: Roll Up the Sun
  • You must play the original PS2 version. Reroll is not allowed.
  • Time starts on pressing “Yes” on either of these screens (depending on whether you have existing save data or not)

Sonic Adventure 2: Battle

  • Category: Dark Story
  • Race starts at Dark Story select on a fresh file.
  • If playing PC version, you must have your monitors refresh rate set to 60 hz

Ocarina of Time Randomizer Co-Op (N64)

  • Category: Randomizer Race
  • There will be two races, with the same seed:
    • Competitive: Teams of 2, ranked by average finish time. Eligible for Top 15 placement points.
    • Casual: Teams of any size. Starts 1 hour after Competitive. You can share information freely as soon as the race starts, but don’t share info with anybody in the competitive race. You will get participation points for finishing, but no points for placement.

Battle Royale:

Just like the multiplayer games, you must play with gamers from YOUR team and participating in the event.

Warzone (60 Points)

  • Warzone is real, and can hurt you
  • Each win is worth 4 Points
  • Victories must be w/ at least two people
  • Wins must be done in Normal Mode, Casual Mode. Ranked Mode. No quick modes.
  • You can only play with others who are also participating in Discord Wars, OR a random fill for modes that require 4 players. No recruiting friends that aren’t in Discord Wars.

Super Animal Royale (30 Points)

  • Play as a cute and deadly animal in a top-down battle royale with up to 64 players. Fight for furvival.
  • Each win is worth 3 Points
  • Victories must be w/ at least two people
  • Wins must be done in Duo mode or Squad mode.
  • Any platform
  • Submit a screenshot of your win

Randomizer Asyncs: (30 Points - 10 per completion)

Each game in this section is a seeded randomizer run that has been "playtested" by a Mod. Seed details and links will be provided once Discord Wars starts.
Points are awarded for completing the seed. You can share guides, spoilers, etc with each other, but do not read/generate spoiler logs for said seeds.

Leaderboard Games:

Each game in this section conveys points based on your position on the leaderboard. Top 15 places on the LB convey points.
Each leaderboard's top 15 conveys (60, 48, 40, 36, 32, 28, 24, 20, 16, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2) points based on position. Ties are broken in favor of earlier submission time.
Team with the most entries in the top 15 of each LB get 500 points.
Each leaderboard also has a threshold: if a certain number of people on your team achieve a target score, the team gets 100 points.

Pokemon Showdown

  • Username must include DW8 in the name and must be made AFTER the event begins (August 1st).
  • Unburden Hitmonlee is not real and cannot hurt you
  • Points are handled through an API and require you to link your showdown account
  • Only Legal Pokemon Showdown Addon is any Browser Version of this extension. There is a firefox version as well.
  • Threshold: Get to 1200 ELO. 30 people required.

Kid Chameleon

  • Beat 4 Bosses

    • Note: You need to submit this separately. If you submit a 4 Boss time, make sure you also submit the 2 Boss goal.

  • Veteran Uma Musume rating
  • Threshold: Beat Career Mode with a win in the URA Finals Finale. 20 people required.
    • Title must contain “Finals Champion” for threshold credit
  • New Accounts required and must not be created until start of Discord Wars, have screenshot of profile with Trainer ID visible for authentication
  • Support Cards must be shown with SR rarity or lower, including friend support in the final slot (example contains SSR rarity, which are not allowed)
  • Only legacies from your own team allowed, legacies from outside sources or main accounts not allowed
  • Accounts must be F2P. No Whales, Dolphins (sorry Salty) or Minnows.
  • Steam and mobile allowed, stream encouraged but not required
  • Only the global version is allowed (not JP)

3D Pinball Space Cadet

Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbidden Memories: Team Hundo

  • As a team, collect every card from each duelist's drop table (POW, BCD, and TEC).
  • Must be streamed. Make sure to enable past broadcasts kept as VoDs.
  • Card acquisition:
    • If a card can be acquired as a drop, you must acquire it as a drop.
    • For fusion-only cards and buy-only cards, one team member must fuse/buy it.
    • For ritual-only cards, as long as the team collectively owns all the components for the ritual, the team will be credited for the ritual (no one has to perform the ritual)
    • Starter-deck cards DO NOT count. You may use your starchips to buy any card to help your deck, but only buy-only cards can count for the team’s goal.
  • Submission rules:
    • When you receive a drop your team doesn't have yet, submit a screenshot of the drop screen in the designated Discord Wars channel. Keep your stream VoD in case we need to cross-verify.
    • Fusion-only and buy-only cards must be submitted as a clip or timestamped VoD instead.
  • Cards received from one duelist count toward all duelists' drop tables. For example, if you get Labyrinth Tank from Heishin, it also counts for Labyrinth Mage's drop table.
  • Must start a fresh save file after Discord Wars begins. Sharing save files with teammates is NOT allowed. Everyone must farm their own deck from scratch.
  • No individual points. All points are allocated as team points only.

SUBG PUBG - Player Unknown's Battle Grounds

  • Need to complete the tutorial ahead of time (it takes time to do)
  • Participation Points: 5 points per game, up to 15 total
  • You MUST link your account to your profile on the website for points to count

Mario Kart World

  • Event will include knockout tour races on all 8 courses as well as a bonus battle mode best of 3 match
  • Team sizes will be 12 v 12
  • Each knockout mode race will be worth 10 points to the team of the winning racer, while the best of 3 battle mode will be worth 20 points to the winning team, for a total of 100 points in the event

  • Make a prop, design a team logo, draw a picture of your team in [x] game, something related to Discord Wars 8

  • Make a food item with the Sci Fi or Fantasy theme and take a picture!
